The Golden Horde – the powerful multinational empire, the historical prototype of the Soviet Union. It was established in the mid-13 century by the iron of mongolian troops and by the blood of conquered peoples. As many as one hundred and fifty years its military power was not a rival (the Soviet Union stayed at this height only 70 years), and it disappeared as suddenly as the Soviet Union, leaving behind a number of smaller states. During its power Horde controlled 9 / 10 territory of modern Ukraine, so we should know its history as part of our own.

Hetmanate – seed from which grew the modern Ukraine. The new european state was created by uprising of the Ukrainian people led by Bogdan Khmelnitsky. This state formed against the political plans of all its neighbors – Poland, Turkey, Crimea and Russia. Under the pressure of the neighbors it lost lands and rights, shorten to autonomy region on the left bank of the Dnieper. But 150 years of its existence created a new political body – the ukrainian people, which forced all to respect their wishes.

Old Volyn was a large country. Under the reign of Daniel and Vasylko Romanovych it bordered with Prussia on the north, the western border with Poland was near Lublin. It covers not only Volyn and Rivne regions of modern Ukraine, but also parts of Ternopil and Khmelnytsky regions. In the epoch of trouble (14 – 15 centuries) Volyn kept faith traditions, culture and education. In Volyn preserved relatively many historical documents through which we can imagine the daily lives of our forefathers, learn about their joys and troubles.

Now, not everyone remembers that the Lviv for a long time was the largest city in Ukraine. In 16 – 1 half 17 centuries Lviv manufacture was the best, Lviv trade – the most successful, Lviv architecture – the most solemn throughout Ukraine. Lviv art was a model for others, Lviv typography, Lviv school, Lviv literature were leading for the ukrainian people. Lviv government was the most sophisticated, complex and confusing – because there were four national communities, each with its privileges.
